Muscovado

In October last year, we awarded Clemmie Reynolds a £1000 grant through our ‘no strings attached’ scheme.

As part of Black History Month, Clemmie has directed a new play written by BBC Writersroom10 winner, Matilda Ibini. Muscovado will take place at the Holy Trinity Church in Clapham Common this week. The church is famously associated with William Wilberforce who was one of the ‘Clapham Sect’, who campaigned for the abolition of the slave trade in 1807”. Set between the Abolition of the Slave Trade Act and the abolition of slavery, ‘Muscovado’ is about the tragedy of knowing freedom but never experiencing it; of finding beauty in the darkest shadows.

Book you tickets for Muscovado which will open on Wednesday 1 October.
