We support, collaborate with and invest in artists to make new theatre and reach new audiences.
We commission, produce and make work for the audiences of south east England. The work we make ourselves tends to be new theatre for non-theatre spaces such as community halls. We produce the work of a number of independent companies including Catherine Ireton, Little Bulb Theatre, Up in Arms and Victoria Melody. We also commission work, often with partners, for particular audiences including work for early years and village fetes.
We tour our own work and that of our associate companies nationally and internationally, support a network of rural venues across Surrey, work with rural touring schemes across England and Wales and are continuing to build relationships with small scale theatres and art centres. We run house, a programme designed to meet the ambitions of venues to increase audiences and improve the range, quality and scale of theatre being presented across south east and east England.
caravan is Farnham Maltings’ international strand of work. Our international projects are designed to encourage England based theatre makers to think and work internationally. We produce a biennial showcase of England’s most exciting artists in partnership with Brighton Festival, on-going and one-off projects with international partners and professional development opportunities for artists. Current projects include showcasing England based artists at PuSh Festival in Vancouver and ACT Festival in Shanghai, a series of collaborative residencies in Seoul and producing a UK tour of Factory Girl by South Korean company, Yangson. We also have a sister company, Theatre Passe Muraille, in Toronto, Canada with whom we regularly exchange work and develop joint projects.
