call out for artists and companies for SPILL National Platform 2014

Are you an artist or company at the beginning of your career making experimental performance, sound, film, video, installation, new media/digital practices or activist actions and living in the UK or Ireland?

The SPILL National Platform for emerging artists is at the heart of SPILL Festival; showcasing innovative, daring and exciting work.

SPILL Festival 2014 will take place from 29 October – 2 November 2014 and present 35 SPILL National Platform artists across a range of spaces in Ipswich, Suffolk as part of SPILL Festival. A high profile panel will select the artists or companies that will be presented.

The National Platform is aimed at artists and companies who are interested in the ‘experience’ or the ‘event’ of art and who work with ideas of ‘liveness’. The Platform is open to artists and companies who are centralising or exploring the ‘liveness’ of the artist and/or audience through performance, sound, film, video, installation, new media/digital practices and new for 2014, activist actions.

This is a fantastic opportunity for emerging artists and companies to showcase their work at SPILL Festival 2014 to an audience made up of national and international promoters, artists, members of the public, and to create a core group of Platform artist peers through attending the wider Festival.

Each artist or company selected for the Platform will receive an inclusive fee of £200, plus accommodation for the Festival, a contribution to travel, and a package of in-kind support of over £1000 including technical, producing, marketing/PR and documentation. A dedicated programme of networking and SPILL Think Tank events will enhance this opportunity for participating artists, and the high profile nature of the SPILL Festival will ensure its impact both nationally and internationally.
