In Good Hands is a site-specific performance of music and storytelling that celebrates the rituals of hairdressing – of secrets, of trust and of our human need to share and connect.
A small audience of up to 30 people are invited to their ‘appointment’ at a rural Irish salon where hairdresser Julie offers them a cup of tea, a magazine while they wait, and listen to the local Ballybracken news from the radio. Amongst them is Lisa who has come in the hope that she can be squeezed in. Over the next 60 minutes – the time it takes for a wash, cut and blow-dry – the small dramas of the lives of Lisa and others of Ballybracken unfold around us. The hairdresser and client duo perform seven original songs of sublime vocal harmony and share stories collected from real-life hairdressing experiences.
