The caravan showcase presents a programme of the best new English performance to a selection of international promoters, festival organisers and presenters as part of the Brighton Festival. The ambition is to create the conditions for England’s theatre makers to develop international collaborations, tours and exchanges. In previous years companies have secured new commissions, toured to every part of the world and built new international partnerships.
The last caravan showcase took place on 11-12 May 2020. Under conditions of the coronavirus crisis, we worked quickly to transform 2020’s showcase and ensure it remained a place for international programmers and England’s brightest performance-makers to meet, develop new partnerships, collaborations and ways of working.
This showcase was an experiment, created in response to the unprecedented time we find ourselves in.With an entirely online platform, we tried to capture the main components of the live showcase as well as create new content specifically for the digital format.
The artists featured in caravan 2020 were:
News News News, Andy Field and Beckie Darlington
Big Up! Theatre-Rites & 20 Stories High
