about the artist
Established in 1995, Third Angel makes entertaining and original contemporary performance that speaks directly, honestly and engagingly to its audience. We make work that encompasses performance, theatre, live art, installation, film, video art, documentary, photography and design, and carries a range of influences from the culture around us: visual art, current affairs, novels, magazines, comics, film, television, music, radio and podcasts. Third Angel has toured internationally since 1998.
SBC (Stand and Be Counted) Theatre was founded in 2010 and is led by producer John Tomlinson, writer-performer Rosie MacPherson and theatre maker Hannah Butterfield. Recently made the first (and only) Theatre Company of Sanctuary, SBC was founded to create works that tackle society’s most taboo issues head-on with unflinching heart and honesty, producing truly dramatic and urgent theatre that seeks to push, provoke and unravel the status quo.
Third Angel has worked with both Hannah Butterfield and John Tomlinson on other projects, and as a dramaturg for SBC. The Journeys is our first full collaboration.
about the show
The Journeys is a durational map-making performance that reveals the history of human migration through the construction of a fascinating, complex web of journeys, showing the routes of cumulative migrations over time. We document and share stories on social media for the duration of the performance, and invite further contributions on those platforms.
