about the artist
Ursula Martinez fuses theatrical concepts, personal experience and popular forms to create innovative challenging, experimental theatre that is highly entertaining and reflective of our contemporary, post-modern world. “Although I position myself in the spotlight, and consistently adopt a personal, autobiographical stance, my shows are not ‘all about me’. They are a vehicle to communicate my understanding of the world. They are not intended to lift the audience out of their lives, but to connect their experience to everyday life. At the core of the work is a commitment to exploring humour and what it is to be human.”
about the show
In Free Admission Martinez builds a real brick wall between herself and the audience, whilst delivering a monologue that reveals her hopes, fears insecurities and frustrations both personal and universal.
